Some of our clients with whom we have successfully completed events:

The world’s largest bikini parade: Kellogg’s Special K

In 2009, Logogog worked with our client Kellogg’s Special K and other service providers to arrange the world’s largest bikini parade at Melrose Arch in Johannesburg. The participants had to walk a 1.6km route around the Melrose Arch Shopping and Restaurant Complex. 5 FM radio station as well as SABC TV presenters were on hand to help make it a memorable event. It also raised money for Pink Link, which is a non-profit breast cancer awareness group. The event gained fantastic publicity, including coverage on major radio stations such as 5 FM, Talk Radio 702, Lotus FM and SABC Radio and coverage in large-distribution printed publications. The parade was also recognised by Guinness World Records as a new world record.

Celebrating Global Handwashing Day 2009 with 1,800 school children, the Department of Sanitation and Bryan Habana: Colgate-Palmolive

In 2009, Logogog worked with our client Colgate-Palmolive’s Protex soap team and other service providers to arrange the world’s largest handwashing event in celebration of Global Handwashing Day. 1,800 school children from Edenglen and Eastleigh Primary Schools in Johannesburg joined the Protex team and their brand ambassador Bryan Habana to successfully break the world record for the largest number of people washing their hands simultaneously.  The Gauteng Department of Sanitation also joined in the celebration. As part of the event, the children painted two huge South African flags with their hands and then washed the paint off using Protex soap. The event gained impressive publicity coverage, both for the sponsor and for the importance of handwashing in reducing the spread of disease in South Africa.

The most people playing vuvuzelas simultaneously: Vodacom

In 2009, Vodacom achieved the record for 12,511 vuvuzelas being played simulteously for 30 seconds at the new World Cup 2010 Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Port Elizabeth, during the Vodacom Challenge game between Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs. The vuvuzela record was incorporated into the ‘Be the voice behind the team’ campaign and was the perfect platform for launching the campaign. The event made the front page of the Herald newspaper, was broadcast on SABC television and was also covered by over 10 radio stations nationally. As part of the project, Vodacom contributed a sizeable donation of cash and books to a local community school.

The world’s longest beef kebab: ArcelorMittal

In 2008, ArcelorMittal in Newcastle, KwaZulu-Natal created the world’s longest beef kebab, stretching 2.3km! The kebab had to be connected to make a single continuous kebab and all the meat had to be cooked at the same time. ArcelorMittal had a festive day in which a large part of the town’s community participated. The company made a significant contribution to the local communities in the way of food donations. The event attained international media coverage, is currently featured in Guinness World Records 2010 (the book) and was considered a huge success.
